I was born and raised in Ogden. I attended Weber State University for my Bachelor’s degree in English and history. I have a Master’s of Education from WSU as well. My Administrator’s Endorsement is from Utah State University. I taught English, drama, speech and cheerleading at SandRidge Jr High. I then went to Bonneville High School and taught English for 11 years there. I was the drill team and student government adviser.
As an administrator, I was an assistant principal at Roy High for 2 1/2 years; principal of South Jr. High for 3 1/2 years; Supervisor of Secondary Education at Weber School District for 8 years.
After 25 years, I retired from WSD. I was a volunteer for a kindergarten class for one year. Fun! I mentored 10 new teachers for WSD to help them through their first year of teaching, moved on to teach at NUAMES charter school, where I developed the curriculum for ACT Preparation and Financial Literacy.
I was a council member for Washington Terrace for three terms. That was a real learning experience to see how government works. I am a board member for Syracuse Arts Academy. My husband is a retired veterinarian, and I have four children with nine grandchildren.
I am excited to be here at HighMark and hope to get to know all of you. This is an exciting school where together we can make learning fun and meaningful.
I was born and raised in Roy, Utah and graduated from Roy High School. I earned my Bachelor’s degree at Weber State University with a secondary teaching license, major in US History and a Special Education Endorsement. I received my Masters in Administration from the University of Phoenix. While attending school I worked in a group home with autistic teens supporting them with attending school, vocational opportunities and daily living skills. I taught Special Education, 7th-9th grade, at TH Bell Junior High school for 11 years, 4th-6th grade at North Ogden Elementary, and was an administrative intern at Washington Terrace Elementary for one year. I have coached softball, volleyball and basketball; been over 8th grade student government; mentored new special education teachers in the district; and worked on Impact Team for Weber School District, supporting teachers with students that struggled academically and behaviorally. I have been part of district teams in creating curriculum and training for teachers in various areas.
I have eight children and our family is very active in sports. We love to travel together and watch each other compete. We love the outdoors, camping, hiking and going to superhero movies.
I love being at Highmark, the positive environment, the parent involvement, the great teachers, the competitive extracurricular activities, and the entrepreneurial spirit!
