The HighMark Charter School Board of Directors is a non-profit governing body consisting of parents and community members established to oversee the implementation of the school charter as approved by the Utah State Office of Education. The voting Board Members consist of the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Financial Coordinator, and other Board Members, as listed below.
The HighMark Charter School (HMCS) Governing Board of Directors is currently accepting applications for a Board Member. Dr. Richard J. Bigler is a native of Mantua, Utah and attended Box Elder High School. He attended Brigham Young University on a music scholarship where he graduated cum laude in Microbiology. While getting his undergraduate degree at BYU he took two years off to learn Mandarin Chinese and serve a church mission to Taipei, Taiwan. He did his graduate work at the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) in Fullerton, California where he graduated with a B.S. summa cum laude in Visual Science and received his Doctor of Optometry degree. While at SCCO, he became a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and the Beta Sigma Kappa honors fraternity and served on the student council as Interprofessional Liaison.
Dr. Richard Bigler moved his family to South Weber in 2007 where they still happily reside. He recently fulfilled a life-long dream to join the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He is married to Amy Wilson of Brigham City and they are the busy parents of four boys. When he is not working or singing, he likes to hike, bike, play sports, bake, cook, and read. He especially enjoys troubleshooting and fixing things.
Blake Petersen is a lifelong resident of South Weber. He is married and has four daughters. Blake graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science. He is a compliance officer and internal auditor for a local community bank.
Blake believes in the application of HighMark Charter School and wants to ensure students receive a high-quality education applicable to business situations.
Denis and his wife Melissa moved to South Weber from Washington, D.C. in 2001. They have four children, Joshua, Branden, Jessica and Faith. Denis was raised in Morgan, Utah. He graduated from BYU with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (Golden Gate University) and a Doctorate degree in Engineering Management (George Washington University). He served for eight years in the U.S. Army. Denis is a founding partner and President of Milestone Management Consultants, LLC. He loves sports and coaches the girls’ basketball team. He brings an entrepreneurial background and a love for education to Highmark and its students.
Dr. Bentley McEntire is married to Janette VanLeunven and is the father of five kids ages 7 to 14. He is a board certified internist and employed physician with Intermountain Health Care's McKay-Dee Hospital. Bentley is a Medical Director for Intermountain Hospice.
Bentley enjoys running, skiing, hiking, and spending time with his family in his free time.
